NE Region Volunteer Week

As part of National Volunteer Week, we are putting a spotlight on the Northeast Region!

With over 2,300 volunteers helping to deliver this amazing program to our Alberta youth, we want to take this opportunity to recognize and give a heart-filled thank you to our amazing volunteers.

Raise Your Hands up High for our Northeast region volunteers today!

As part of National Volunteer Week, 4-H Alberta is pleased to recognize all the volunteers in the NE region for their commitment to the 4-H program and the amazing youth it serves!

Volunteers that we’ve heard some great things about include Sheri & Matt Janz, Caydence Dechaine, Shelbea Gamache, Leona Bonneau, Sandra Smith, and Andrea Salzl.

Here is what some of you had to say about these amazing volunteers:

Sheri & Matt Janz

These two individuals have helped to support and grow our club with their outstanding willingness to provide time and energy to ensuring our members have a wonderful 4-H Experience. They support the club as well as the District with leadership throughout the year as well as at achievement time with both the Club and District Shows. Their selflessness and fun loving attitudes make the 4-H experience satisfying and enjoyable.

Caydence Dechaine

Caydence is in her 8th year of 4-H. She is her Club President this year, has also stepped up to be a District Rep for District Council, a rep to the Bonnyville District Hosting Committee for the NE Region You Be the Judge Event as well as Vice President of the NE Region Beef Show Committee. At the NE Region AGM she also volunteered and was accepted as the NE Region Secretary. Along with these positions she has continued support with her Youth Leadership in the Region signing up to support both the the NE Region Fall Fling Winter Warm Up held in January (unfortunately wasn’t able to attend due to Covid) and the NE Region Spring Fling event held in April.

Caydence continues to support her fellow club members and engage at every level in 4-H Alberta from Club, District, Region and Province. She has enrolled to attend the Senior Symposium and has put her name in to assist with YLEADing a camp or two this summer with 4-H Alberta Summer Programming.

Shelbea Gamache

Shelbea is in her 8th year of 4-H. She is her Club Vice President this year, has also stepped up to be a District Rep to attend District Council, a rep to the Bonnyville District Hosting Committee for the NE Region You Be the Judge Event as well as Secretary of the NE Region Beef Committee. Along with these positions she has continued support with her Youth Leadership in the Region signing up to support both the the NE Region Fall Fling Winter Warm Up held in January and the NE Region Spring Fling event held in April.

Shelbea continues to support her fellow club members and engage at every level in 4-H Alberta from Club, District, Region and Province. She has enrolled to attend the Senior Symposium and has put her name in to assist with YLEADing a camp or two this summer with 4-H Alberta Summer Programming. Shelbea is an asset to the 4-H program and is greatly appreciated by her fellow members, parents and leaders.

Sandra Smith

Sandy is in her 6th year of serving the 4-H Community with her volunteerism. Over the years Sandy has been a leader of two clubs in the Bonnyville District both the Ardmore Beef Club and the Lakeland Long Riders Light Horse Club. She has also stepped up as the District Council President for a number of those years and has recently added to her plate, the NE Region Treasurer position. Sandy is easy going, fun loving and a strong advocate for 4-H. She has devoted many hours to 4-H over the years and continues to contribute value and energy to the 4-H program in her community and region.

Andrea Salzl

Andrea has been a huge asset to our club. She helps organize, supervise and mitigate any issues. She puts the members and their needs first. We are lucky to have her in our club!

Leona Bonneau

Leona was a leader with the Beaver River Beef Club and our Bonnyville District Council for a number of years. Even after her children aged out of 4-H, Leona continued to stay on with the Bonnyville District Council as our Treasurer and gives many countless hours of her time and talents to our District Council. She keeps us organized and on track as well as provides many ideas to our group. Leona together with her family are strong advocates of the Canadian Cattle and Ag industries and of course the 4-H program. We appreciate the many dedicated hours she gives to our Bonnyville 4-H Community.
