Seeking a Maintenance Worker for the Alberta 4-H Centre

Job Summary:  

We are looking for hard-working individuals that will ensure a positive overall impression of the facility by maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and presentation in our accommodations and all public areas while providing excellent customer service and maximizing guest satisfaction. Assist the Supervising Manager to maintain the buildings, grounds and facilities at the Alberta 4-H Centre to the highest standards to enable our campers/guests to have the best possible experience.

This is a Canada Summer Jobs Grant employment program and applicants must be aged between 15 to 30 to be eligible. This has the possibility of becoming a permanent part-time position based on facility rentals.

Job Description:

  • Assist with daily operations to maintain and clean grounds and facilities.
  • Filling out daily/weekly/monthly checklists.
  • Perform basic landscape functions including, mowing, weed-whacking, trail and beach maintenance.
  • Perform basic cleaning duties in the dorm and lodge 
  • Proper storage and cleaning of equipment and tools.
  • Pre-season set-up and end of season take-down.
  • Assist in turnover between camps and events.
  • Custodial support as required.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins.
  • Help with the set up of client specific needs.
  • Eliminating any potential hazards i.e., fallen trees.
  • Maintain daily/weekly/monthly records.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Supervising Manager.
  • Willing to help evenings, weekends (on call) with any problems that may come up.

Qualifications:

  • General working knowledge of small engines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of grounds tools such as lawn mowers, weed-whackers, chain saws, etc.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements to safely perform job duties required for the position.
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Ability to take direction and execute in a timely, friendly, respectful, detail-oriented manner.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication.
  • Reliability and flexibility
