REGIONAL NEWS

“Labour Day officially became a statutory holiday in Canada in 1894. However, the holiday finds its origins long before that. Many historians accredit the events of 1872 to have been the driving force behind achieving Labour Day. The Nine-Hour Movement of 1872 was a push for shorter work days at a time when most employees were expected to work twelve hours a day. https://www.prepareforcanada.com/after-you-arrive/living-in-canada/celebrating-the-history-of-labour-day-in-canada/

PROJECT STANDARDS – UPDATED

Beef Standards, and Sheep Standards have been updated by your Provincial Advisory Committees. Please ensure your clubs and district / regional committees are aware of all changes for the 2022 year!

New Leaders

  • If you have new leaders, please have them fill in an adult registration form and send it to me! I can open up a profile for them in the system and they can begin screening and training!
Activity Plans
  • Activities beyond the club level require an approved activity plan
  • If your club has a high-risk activity planned, it too will need an activity plan

Adding New Projects

  • Members can add a new project if they can meet the 70% attendance requirement. Many projects start later in the year, so if they haven’t missed activity deadlines, and your club approves a new project – please reach out to your area coordinator!
Being in Good Standing
  • It is important to be in good standing at every level of 4-H Alberta.
  • If you have any questions about what you need to do (as a Member, Club, District etc) to be in good standing, please consult the 4-H Alberta Reference Guide
South Region Consumer Decision Making – HELP WANTED
  • The South Regional Council is seeking senior members and leaders to help organize the South Region Consumer Decision Making event. If you are interested, please contact Connie Harder.
