International Bath Day – June 14th!
“Legend has it that on this day, Greek mathematician, scientist, and scholar, Archimedes discovered while taking a bath that an object’s volume could be accurately measured by being submerged in water! Unable to contain his excitement, Archimedes leaped out of the bathtub and yelled, “Eureka, Eureka!” as he ran through the streets of Syracuse, Greece. No one knows the exact date of Archimedes’ birth. However, we do know he was born in the year 287 BC. To honor Archimedes, we commemorate the date he leapt out of the bathtub, June 14th.” |

Achievement days are an exciting time for the South Region, with events scheduled throughout April, May, and June. For those who have already showcased their projects, we hope you had a fantastic experience! And for those preparing to celebrate in June, we wish you great success and, most importantly, loads of fun. Remember to express your gratitude to your leaders and parents, who look forward to Achievement Days just as much as you do!
- Be in good standing
- Don’t forget to “check in” at your event sign in sheet
- Dress for success (and the weather)
- Stay hydrated!
- When a community member compliments you on a job well done – look them in the eye, shake their hand, say “thank you” and take that moment to feel proud, because you HAVE done a great job!
- Capture the memories with lots of pictures
- Most importantly – HAVE FUN! With your club, district, fellow 4-H members, and family 🙂
- If you have time, send your Area Coordinator a group photo of your Club /District Achievement
Please refer to the 4-H Alberta Reference Guide to confirm that you (member), your club and district are in good standing. Being in good standing opens doors to a fantastic 4-H year at all levels. It also helps you to be eligible for funding, awards of excellence, member awards and scholarships! You must be in good standing at every level to complete your year!
Who is in GOOD STANDING? The SOUTH REGION!!!
All South Region Clubs and Districts are in GOOD STANDING with 4-H Alberta! THANK YOU!
Members & Leaders – Complete your online forms ASAP! At a member level this is required for YOU to be in good standing! Incomplete forms may mean you can’t participate in Achievement Day or club activities!
South Region Reminders (Click on Active Links for More Information)
- If you have new leaders, please have them fill in an adult registration form and send it to me! I can open up a profile for them in the system and they can begin screening and training!
- Activities beyond the club level require an approved activity plan
- If your club has a high-risk activity planned, it too will need an activity plan
Adding New Projects
- Members can add a new project if they can meet the 70% attendance requirement. Many projects start later in the year, so if they haven’t missed activity deadlines, and your club approves a new project – please reach out to your area coordinator!
- It is important to be in good standing at every level of 4-H Alberta.
- If you have any questions about what you need to do (as a Member, Club, District etc) to be in good standing, please consult the 4-H Alberta Reference Guide
- The South Regional Council is seeking senior members and leaders to help organize the South Region Consumer Decision Making event. If you are interested, please contact Connie Harder.
