Andrea Hanson

Area Director Calgary/South

Andrea Hanson is an avid supporter of the 4-H program. Her 4-H pedigree spans four generations, tracing back to her grandfather’s participation, and continuing through to her children Colton and Cailey.

4-H facilitated Andrea’s career path, as she went on to earn a degree in agriculture at the University of Alberta.  She was a 4-H Specialist for the Calgary (and South for a while) Region from 1989 to 1992 and 2011 to 2015. She is currently working remotely with Lakeland College as a beef research assistant.

Andrea’s 4-H involvement started when she joined the Irricana Country Riders Club at a young age, and later the Irricana Beef and Multi Club. She experienced the inception of 4-H on Parade as a member, and went on to become a volunteer on the Calgary Stampede’s 4-H on Parade Committee for many years. She is currently chairperson. Over the years Andrea has been a 4-H leader, key leader, parent, and supporter.

Andrea feels fortunate to look out and enjoy the mountains west of Black Diamond daily with her partner Lee. After becoming an empty nester, Andrea’s focus has turned to exploring new challenges and opportunities to contribute to Alberta’s agriculture industry, youth, and her communities.
