Become a fully trained 4-H Alberta Youth Leader at YLEAD!
Youth Leaders (formally camp counsellors) are 4-H Alberta Senior Members with a passion for leadership and youth development. Youth Leaders can volunteer at summer camps, winter camps, fun days, and other 4-H Alberta programs once they have successfully completed YLEAD.

- Youth safety and inclusion
- Leading and instructing all ages
- Activity planning
- Running skill sessions at programs
- Mental Health Awareness
- Promoting positive youth development
- Camp-specific training
All Youth Leader training will be completed “learn to do by doing” style and is sure to be a blast!
As a Youth Leader you will be able to help plan and implement 4-H programs, count in program supervision ratios, and volunteer at summer camps! Not only will you gain valuable experience for your future, you will also be supporting positive youth development in Alberta.
Everyone who completes YLEAD will have the opportunity to volunteer this summer!
Once your registration has been approved, you will be emailed a form to fill in your availability for summer camps as well as some training to complete prior to attending YLEAD on July 2nd.
YLEAD arrival & check-in is scheduled for 2:00pm on Sunday, July 2nd.
The program will end at 12:00pm (noon) on Thursday, July 6th.
More details on the YLEAD schedule, what-to bring, and other housekeeping items will be communicated closer to the program start date.
The registration fee includes all meals, accommodation, programming, and your Youth Leader uniform.
Registration is first come, first serve. Spaces are limited and your spot in the program is not reserved until full payment is received.
