Discover, Celebrate, and Travel: 4-H Alberta’s Spring Senior Symposium 2023 Ignites Passion for Health, Wellness, and Adventure

Westerose, AB, May 9, 2023 – 106 Senior 4-H members came together for an inspiring weekend and 43 members earned the opportunity to travel throughout parts of Canada.

The 2023 4-H Alberta Spring Senior Symposium, held from May 5th to 8th in Camrose, brought together 106 enthusiastic Senior 4-H members for an inspiring weekend packed with leadership development, health and wellness initiatives, and travel adventure opportunities.

Participants had the chance to choose between two engaging program streams: Health and Wellness or Award Trip Selection. Those who dove into the Health and Wellness stream discovered valuable insights on leadership, shook it up with lively line dancing, and explored mental health with dynamic guest speakers. To cap off the day, each member crafted a one-of-a-kind string art project as a memento.

Meanwhile, 43 lucky 4-H members earned the opportunity to embark on unforgettable travel experiences to Toronto, Ottawa, the Northwest Territories, and across Alberta. These Senior Award Trips recognized their outstanding achievements and dedication to the 4-H community. Selection was based on diary points, group participation, peer and facilitator evaluations, and enthusiasm displayed during the Senior Symposium. These exciting trips are scheduled to take place within the next 12 months.

The full list of winners can be found below.

Throughout the event, members from both streams joined forces to engage with dynamic keynote speakers and participate in collaborative small-group sessions. Additionally, eleven 4-H Alberta ambassadors seized the chance to strengthen their leadership skills by emceeing the event and organizing entertaining activities.

4-H Alberta is committed to fostering positive youth development through opportunities and programs that enhance leadership, communication, critical thinking, and responsibility, all while upholding positive values. To learn more about 4-H Alberta and how to get involved, visit www.4hab.com.
