The weeklong event has brought together the country’s top 500 young scientists in grades 7-12/CÉGEP to compete for medals, cash prizes, scholarships, and exclusive opportunities since 1962.

“Each year I am blown away by the innovation and dedication of 4-H youth in STEM,” said Shannon Benner, 4-H Canada CEO. “We are proud to partner with organizations like Bayer Crop Science Canada to provide these opportunities to youth in rural areas, particularly young women, who don’t get equal access to participate in science and technology programming.”

More than 76% of the youth who participate in the 4-H Canada Science Fair have reported they don’t have access to a program like this in their school or community as a result of lack of programs or financial resources. Thanks to our partnership with Bayer Crop Science Canada, STEM programming is becoming more accessible to youth in rural areas across the country, allowing them to reach their full potential.

“I’m also very proud of our finalists for making it to the Canada-Wide Science Fair, and would like to extend a special congratulations to Mac for their impressive results,” Benner continues.

“I am in awe of the commitment to science, agriculture and learning that these youth have,” says Ginger Rozmus, Sr. Communications Lead, Bayer Crop Science Canada. “It was impressive that they made it to this Canada-Wide Science Fair, and outstanding that they were able to go home with awards, competing against hundreds of top aspiring scientists.”

4-H Canada’s involvement in CWSF is part of an ongoing commitment to further science and technology skills and knowledge development for youth through 4-H programming. Together, 4-H Canada and Bayer Crop Science Canada are working to ignite a passion for STEM in today’s youth leaders, and ensure youth have access to experiential learning opportunities that better their communities, create global citizens, and build leaders of today.
