2023 Judging Competition Results are in!
The annual 4-H Alberta Judging Competition was held in Vermillion at Lakeland College on March 10, 2023. One hundred two members participated, 24 juniors, 44 intermediates and 35 seniors. Classes judged in this competition were: Commercial Heifers, Purebred Bulls, Horses, Dairy Cows, Market Hogs, Sheep, Silage, Canola, Steak and Sale Catalogues. 4-H Members compete within their age group.

Entrepreneur Ken Keis Named 4-H Canada Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient
Entrepreneur, Ken Keis has been named 4-H Canada’s Distinguished Alumni Award recipient for 2022.
The Distinguished Alumni Award will be presented to Ken during the 2023 4-H Canada Leadership Awards, which be held virtually with host, Canadian Olympic Gold Medallist, Jon Montgomery, on Feb. 28, 2023.

McDonald’s Canada and 4-H Canada launch National Youth Scholarship program to help support the next generation of Canadian farmers
Today, McDonald’s Canada and 4-H Canada are announcing the launch of the National Youth Scholarship program as a part of the next iteration of a longstanding relationship between the two organizations. As part of this partnership, sixteen scholarships totaling $80,000 will be awarded over two years to senior youth leaders from coast to coast to coast and will be aimed at advancing important work in sustainability and educational pursuits in agriculture.

4-H Canada Invites Supporters to “Wear Green and Be Seen” this November
4-H Canada is celebrating Show Your 4-H Colours Day on Nov. 2, as part of 4-H Month. The annual celebration sees youth members, volunteer leaders, alumni, and supporters displaying their pride in being part of this 109-year-old community by wearing green, and lighting up landmarks in their communities.

4-H Alberta Ambassadors & Premier’s Award Recipient Announced!
During the 2022 Fall Senior Symposium Banquet on October 22, the incoming Ambassadors were announced along with the return of the Premier’s Award and its next recipient.
The Premier’s Award is the highest honour bestowed to a 4-H Alberta member. The award was donated personally by the Honourable E.C. Manning, Premier of Alberta, and was first presented to an outstanding 4-H member in 1964. The Premiers Award recipient is chosen from the pool of current 4-H Ambassadors and represents 4-H at a variety of events over the following year.

4-H Canada is delighted to announce the recipients of the 2022 John Deere Canada 4-H Scholarship.
12 Youth Leaders from Across Canada Receive 2022 TD 4-H Agriculture Scholarships
12 youth leaders from across Canada are the recipients of this year’s TD 4-H Agriculture Scholarships. The scholarships, totalling $30,000 in funds for 2022, have been generously provided by TD Bank Group, with each of the 12 4-H members receiving $2,500 toward their post-secondary education in agriculture, agricultural science, or agricultural business this coming fall.

Alberta Young Speakers for Agriculture Return to In-Person Competition
For the first time since 2019, youth from across the province will be speaking up for agriculture in-person. The Alberta Young Speakers of Agriculture board has decided to hold its annual competition at the Calgary Stampede.
